Bert Ambrose Elementary is a K-6 school located in the northeast corner of Fort St. John, in a picturesque setting, surrounded by a beautiful park and an outdoor skating rink. Our elementary school serves both an urban and rural community with a student population of 217 students, 15% of whom are First Nations students. Our school has a staffing compliment of ten divisions, 1 teachers and 12 support workers as well a principal, vice principal, a reading intervention teacher and a part time librarian. Our school enjoys itinerant access to a range of services such as counselling, teacher of the deaf and hard of hearing, and speech-language support from the District’s Learning Services team.

Our Mission at Bert Ambrose Elementary is: “Striving together to achieve our potential for a better tomorrow.”

Our school is a child-centered school: we focus on the principles of learning with a very collaborative staff.  We have an active Parent Advisory Committee and an extremely supportive parent community.

This year our school will be focusing on three major goals, which are as follows:

  1. To improve Social Responsibility: “Solving Problems in Peaceful Ways”, in a Safe Secure Environment!
  2. To improve Literacy: “Writing skills”
  3. To improve Critical Thinking Skills,” students ability to analyze critically, solve problems, and make decisions in the key curricular areas.
