Digital Citizenship

Bert Ambrose students and teachers embrace many opportunities to become digital citizens. In the fall, students and parents receive a SD 60 District Wide User Agreement outlining the terms regarding the use of any device accessing our internet. Parents of students in the Wireless Writing Program watch the Learn60 Digital Citizenship Presentation and these same concepts are presented to students in class. SD60 District Tech Mentor Teachers and classroom teachers assist students to learn appropriate strategies as outlined in the Curriculum With Technology and K-5 Digital Literacy Scope and Sequence. Additional focus is given to coding and digital expectations to be successful in a digital world, especially CyberBullying and on line safety sites. All students have access to the computer lab and 10 school iPads; while students in the Wireless Writing Program in Grade 6 or 5/6 use an iPad mini. Each year teachers build upon our technology program. This past year many buddy classes shared the lab, students learned to code, read books on line and experimented with our recently purchased spheros.
