The Week Ahead- June 25-28

Hello and welcome to the final “Week Ahead” of the 2017-2018 school year!
On behalf of the staff at Bert Ambrose, I would like to thank you for your support over the past year. It has definitely been an “interesting” year with many challenges but also many wonderful moments and the opportunity to celebrate so much growth in our students. We have seen academic gains but also growth in social and emotional development as well as in student leadership skills. On a personal level, I would like to thank each and every one of you for making my return to Bert Ambrose such a positive and rewarding experience. It was wonderful to come “home” to this amazing school community and I am already looking forward to next year (of course, this would be after a much-needed break to recharge).
You will note from the attached “Week Ahead”, that it is going to be an extremely busy and exciting week for students. There are many special activities and I would ask that you take a minute to talk to your child/children about the need for them to continue to make positive behavioural choices during these less structured times. Miss Brekkas and I would like to enjoy the activities as well so would appreciate not having office “visitors”.  Thank you!
We are already well into the planning for next year and our class configuration depends on knowing the number of students at each grade level. If circumstances change over the summer, I would really appreciate an email (lwright@prn.bc.ca), letting me know that your family will not be attending Bert Ambrose next year.  I will check email regularly over the summer break.
The end of the year also marks a time of change – we will be saying goodbye to several groups of people this year:
– Good Luck to all of our Grade 6 student who will head off to new adventures at the Middle School. Please come back to visit and let us know how you are enjoying the next chapter of your educational journey.
– To those families who are leaving us to attend the Margaret ‘Ma’ Murray School or other schools within the District, we wish you well. Change can be difficult but it also provides the opportunity for growth and new experiences. Please come back and see us and let us know how you are doing.
– To those families who are moving away from the area – safe travels and all the best in your new location. Thankfully the wonders of technology will allow us to remain in contact – I would love to hear how your children are doing in your new home and at their new school.
– Lastly, we have many staff members who will not be with us next year:  Changes to our teaching staff:  Mrs. Larsh will be home with a new baby, Mr. Burkinshaw is retiring from teaching after 25 years with the School District, Mrs. Quebec is retiring and has told me I can’t talk her out of it again this year, Mrs. McKnight will be teaching at Freedom Thinkers, Miss Symynuk is heading to Vancouver Island for new adventures, and Mrs. Wilson is choosing to focus on her family next year. Changes to our support staff include Mrs. Popal moving to Vancouver Island, Mrs. Holloway leaving her role as EA to return to teaching (at Ambrose), and Miss Shuster heading off to University. I will attempt to update the website at the end of the summer to introduce new staff members!
In closing, please take a moment to look at the attached “tag” folder. It seemed fitting to share this with you during this final week of school!
Looking forward to an awesome week!
Ms. Wright
