Hello,
Thought I would try to send off The Week Ahead today as I wanted to remind everyone that there is no school on Monday due to the Non-Instructional Day.
Congratulations to all of our Basketball Teams for a very successful season. The Boys A team placed third in their tournament on Wednesday and the Girls A team placed second in an extremely exciting and close final game against Clearview. Thank you to our players for the sportsmanship exhibited and the dedication to practices and games. Additionally a HUGE thank you to the coaches (listed below) and to Miss Brekkas for her many hours of work to coordinate our sports programs.
- Boys B Team – Mr. Moskalyk / Mrs. Baker
- Boys A Team – Mrs Lee / Kurtis Lee / Devon Lee
- Girls B Team – Mrs Bojzuk / Mrs. Hartnell
- Girls A Team – Mrs Elliott / Mrs.Hartnell assisted at the tournament.
Our next sport is badminton and we would welcome assistance from any parents with experience in this sport and time to assist with practices. Please contact Miss Brekkas if you might be able to assist with morning or after-school practices. There is not a “season” for badminton but there is a 2-day tournament in April.
BUS LANE – Please do not park in the bus lane at any time as there have been occasions when it causes difficulty for the school buses to get in to pick up classes for field trips or sporting events. Thank you for your cooperation with this.
On Friday, March 15th, we will be holding a Student Conference – this is an exciting day where students sign up for various activities and rotate through sessions. We have an exciting keynote speaker lined up to start our day and several community members will be joining us to present sessions.
One of the sessions will be “Grow Your Own Salad” and we need empty and clean plastic salad/spinach containers with lids. Please only send the deep ones. Both small and large containers are needed. As well, we would like the bottom 3-5 cm (1-2 inches) of a celery bunch if you have one. We can store these in a school fridge until they are needed. These items can be brought to the office. Thank you!
With only 3 weeks until Spring Break, it is important to help students remain focussed on their school work. Report cards will be sent home on March 12th for classes following the traditional reporting process. For classes doing a trial run of the new reporting process, your next “Point of Progress” report may come home on an alternate timeline. We have Early Dismissal Days on March 13 and March 14 and I encourage you to schedule a conference with your child’s teacher if you have any questions or concerns that need to be addressed. Remember, it is important to keep the lines of communication open between home and school!
Have a wonderful weekend and don’t forget to mark your calendars for Saturday, March 2 and the Grade 6 Barkerville Yoga session here in our gym.
