Good Evening,
I hope everyone had a great Family Day long weekend. Attached is “The Week Ahead” for the next two weeks … hard to believe that by the end of next week we will be turning the calendar page yet again! After the weeks of bitter cold weather, I am sure we are all looking forward to warmer temperatures and thoughts of Spring.
Last Friday, Mrs. London’s and Mrs. Barr’s classes hosted the annual Jump Rope for Heart event to raise money for The Heart and Stroke Foundation. A special thank you to all parents and students who collected pledges for Jump Rope for Heart, and congratulations to everyone in the school for a fantastic and exciting day jumping. If you have not seen the post on our school website or FaceBook page, I encourage you to check out the video clips posted. It was wonderful to see our leadership students actively involved in making the day special for our school community. Also, thank you to Mrs. London and Mrs. Barr for all of their “behind the scenes” efforts; events like this take time and energy and we appreciate your dedication to our school and this cause.
Last Friday also marked 100 days of school … but we decided to celebrate this day on Tuesday, February 19 due to all of the other activites happening last week. 100 Day activities will occur for Primary classes in the afternoon. If you are in the school, be sure to check out Mrs. Kursteiner’s bulletin board … it is amazing to see her Grade 1 and 2 students age-progressed to 100.
Mrs. Lee has asked me to remind parents that students who are interested in registering for the Popsicle Bridge Building Contest need to have their forms returned to her by Wednesday, March 6th. Students in Mrs. Fraser’s, Mr. Frankham’s, Mrs. Louie’s, Mrs. Lee’s, and Mrs. Lavioue’s classes met with Mr. Luo and a group of engineers earlier this month and information about this activity was sent home. Please contact your child’s teacher or Mrs. Lee if further information is required.
Thank you to the PAC for organizing Movie Night on February 7th. It is wonderful to have family friendly activities that bring our school community together. Mark you calendars for Thursday, April 25 for the next Movie Night. More information will be released closer to the date.
Good luck to our Grade 6 Basketball teams who will be participating in the District Basketball Tournament this week. The Boys A team plays on Wednesday after school and the Girls A team plays on Thursday after school.
Looking forward to a great week and another long weekend (for students)!
Ms. Wright
